What is Medical Respite Care?
Medical respite — also called recuperative care — is short-term residential housing for patients who are medically stable enough to leave the hospital, but too ill or too vulnerable to recover safely at home. It sits in the critical space between inpatient care and independent living.
When a patient is discharged with a PICC line, an open wound, or a complex care plan, the assumption is that they have a safe, clean environment waiting for them. For thousands of Atlanta residents, that assumption is wrong. Without a safe place to recover, patients return — sometimes within days.
Continuum Care Solutions exists to break that cycle. We provide the address. We provide the environment. We provide the bridge. The hospital’s clinical team continues their work exactly as planned — their home health nurse visits our housing. Nothing in the care plan changes except one thing: the patient now has somewhere safe to heal.
PICC Line & IV Antibiotic Therapy
Patients requiring outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy (OPAT) for osteomyelitis, endocarditis, soft tissue infections, and related conditions.
Wound Care & Post-Surgical Recovery
Complex wound care patients, post-surgical recoveries, and diabetic foot wound management requiring ongoing outpatient treatment.
Medically Complex Discharge Cases
Patients who are clinically ready for discharge but whose home environment — or lack of one — would compromise their recovery and increase readmission risk.

Your team arranges home health services exactly as you normally would. Our residential housing is simply the address where that care happens.

Average length of stay is 30 days. We track treatment completion and 30-day readmission rates — and share that data with your team.
